1) How do I know what documents to send with an HSMP application?

The HSMP Guidelines and these FAQs explain the evidence we require from you in order to qualify for points towards the scheme.

2) What is the fee of HSMP application and how to pay the HSMP fee?

The HSMP fee is GBP 315. Payment can be made by one of the 3 methods indicated on the payment form:

1.UK Postal Order

2.Credit/Debit card or

3.Cheque. Please make cheques payable to 'Home Office, Work Permits (UK)'.

3) When the Home Office will return my documents after consideration?

The HSMP case-working Team will return your documents once the application process is complete. If you need your documents back before this time, please contact the HSMP Team. The contact details are:

4) Can I arrange a courier to collect my documents from Sheffield?

If you wish to arrange a courier to collect your documents please notify the HSMP team by fax on 0114 207 6021 and they will contact you to let you know when and where your documents will be ready for collection. Please be aware that the HSMP team will not sign any documents from the Courier Company or pay for this service.

Therefore you should check with the Courier Company you instruct that there are no papers to be signed when they collect the parcel.

5) Where do I send the completed HSMP application form?

Initial HSMP applications should NOT be sent directly to the HSMP team in Sheffield.

6) How much time HSMP team takes to Process the complete application?

50% of new applications to be decided within 5 weeks of receipt at our payment handling service and 90% within 14 weeks.

Current Performance (year to date)

% of applications devided within 5 weeks 80%

% of applications decided within 14 weeks 92%

If we need to make further checks or seek additional information, your application is more likely to fall into the category that can take up to 14 weeks or even longer.

We are also reducing the number of older HSMP cases as quickly as possible. The oldest applications now being processed were made in the week commencing 20 September 2004.
