In order to work in New Zealand or Australia you need to hold a valid work permit or visa. There are a number of options open to you dependent on your circumstances and long-term plans. It is important to remember that some applications take a long time to process. Applications for permanent residency in Australia can take anything from 12 months to 2 years, so you’ll need to plan ahead. Temporary Working Holiday Visas can usually be obtained within 2 weeks to a maximum of 3 months.

Australia has reciprocal Working Holiday maker arrangements in effect with the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Republic of Ireland, Republic of Korea, Malta, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China, Finland, the Republic of Cyprus, France, and Italy, Belgium, Estonia and Taiwan.

As a working holiday maker you are permitted a stay of 12 months from the date of entry to Australia. You are permitted to any kind of work of a temporary or casual nature. As the main purpose of you visit is work and travel work with one employer for a period of more than 3 months is not permitted and you should not work for the full period of your stay.
